Dangerous game they're playing. Their gov't is in HUGE trouble, so they are pro-actively seeking confrontation with the US in order to stir nationalism at home.

If you are being rerouted into a hard non-fly day, you may, if you wish, so inform Crew Scheduling of the conflict, at which point they will be tasked to "make every reasonable effort to resolve" such a conflict. (23 L. 7.) In other words, if they can find another pilot to fly your reroute and get you back to base in time, they are required to do so.

OTOH, being rerouted into a vacation day(s) can be a pretty good deal, depending upon the circumstance. (7 F. 8.)
In my experience they don't really seem to make a reasonable effort even when i've told them its my golden day etc.. I just don't see why the crew trackers don't have that info anyway-seems pretty dumb to me.

Tracking only cares about the flight operating. They don't care who is in the seat. If they have you doing it, oh well. Skeds, on the other hand, is looking longer term with regard to off days and how the reroute impacts flying down line. Two different agendas.

If a pilot in this circumstance feels that "every reasonable effort" has not been made, he should certainly document the issue and call the Scheduling Committee forthwith.

My 14-year-old daughter recently called BS on my use of "goodly." I had to prove to her that it's a real word that means, among other things, "largish."

I did a lot of theater quals from the Jumpseat as a LCA.
