Quote: I mostly have weekends off and work weekdays, so in my experience all of Delta's FAs are no less than 10 years of seniority... until this holiday week. I did not know we had 22 year old FAs!? And some of the other FAs that I flew with I could only classify the way we classified them in college: "trouble."
Lucky you - over on the ER, if they are under 45 and don't have cats, they stand out.
Oh come on, you are ER in NYC!!! Thats where all the new FA's went. They look like beauty queens compared to ATL!!! And not the male type queens. You know, the ones that Satchip likes!! War Eagle!!

Apparently 737 captains need lovin' too.
Is that a Southwest uniform?

Do the A320 FOs get a Type Rating?
Quote: Do the A320 FOs get a Type Rating?
Nope. I don't know if NWA ever gave 320 FO's a type. Maybe when they were being flown inter Asia, but that was before my time & knowing the way NWA spent $$$ my guess is NO.
Quote: The A330 and A320 do not share a common type rating.
Ya know, you're correct. I remember talking to a 320 CA who was switching to 330 FO, and he still had to do a type ride for his 330 training.

Can anybody tell me why they don't share a common type rating? I thought that was the selling point by Airbus. That their line of aircraft were a common type rating which was what made them attractive to airlines.

its not a common type but if you're trained on the 320 you can go through the short course when switching to the 330. At least thats how it was explained to me.

The 320 F/Os do not get a type rating, only those fleets that need augmentation. If you are current and qualified on the 330, you will get the short course...its approximately 6-7 days ground school and 5 sim periords(includes MV and LOE). To go from the 330 to the 340 its about 3 days.

As far as a common type rating...it is a very different aircraft as far as sight picture and systems(close but not quite). Plus I don't think we would want another 75/76 common type.

That's what I was wondering, if sim time is a premium for the 330 could they ever do 320 initial With no OE to a 330 short course?

dont know but that sure would be a back door way of doing things.
