I can count on one hand how many times I've been in their office in almost 35 years. So no. I avoid them.

Don't trust your CP? I wonder why not... Today I read: Capt. Scott Tarves named Chief Pilot in NYC. It is nice to see the company rewarding the guys who carried their water while pretending to be union reps. BTW, we still have a slew of Moak disciples who work at the union doing the company's bidding.

I've found the CPO to be more than helpful. I mean if you've never needed them, then great, but I'm sure not scared to reach out and get assistance. I guess some people are just perpetually scared of the boogeyman around the corner.

Absolutely agree. I was in the hospital near death and the NY CPO bent over backwards to help, including flying my son home from college. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need assistance. That’s really what they are for.

IF I needed them, I'd call. But I don't, so I don't. Scared? We're all big boys. Please.

I’ll poopoo my share of company stuff like the next guy, but I have had very good experiences with the CPO at the DeathStar. They have been extremely supportive during a couple family issues.

Why do you avoid them then? Nothing wrong with being scared. It makes sense to be scared of a supervisor you don't know.

My experiences with the CPO and Duty Pilots have been great. Quick answers and solutions. Not saying you should seek them out, just that they make life a LOT easier.

I think you'd be surprised, and I wasn't specifically talking about your post. Unfortunately, we're all NOT "big boys..." If you ever do talk to the CPO, they'll tell you that 95% of their problems are created by about 5% (or less) of the group. Good fortune on your part for not needed them after such a long career. Between a death in the family while on the road and random MLOA stuff, I've needed them a few times in my short career.

Yeah, been here, I know the what they do. Thanks, it's also an axiom that when you retire, they don't know you name. I was in NYC for 20 years, the CPO wasn't particularly helpful or friendly in those days. Other than picking up my ID every 5 years, I haven't needed to step in the office. I'm a 95%er. Maybe you can apply for a job there. You seem helpful.

I already talked to them about that. Turns out they expect you to actually show up to work like more than 6 or 7 days a month, and that's just right out. Also, contrary to how it appears, I'm way less helpful than I look.
