Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

What else does Boeing have that we are interested in? Certainly not 737s... we sold those... 747s? Yeah right..
I agree with the assessment that UAUA will not go to the scrap heap. As I said.. IF they go down.. they will be parted out or whatever... But I'll bet that of their fleet, the 777s would be of most interest to DAL. I guess 757/767s would be also.. but the point I was trying to make was that there are many other sources of airplanes now rather than pay extortion rates to Boeing. Disclaimer: No ill will meant toward any UAUA pilots reading this... it's all what-if'n...
Oh, and it was ME seeing the black helicopters BTW.. I wasn't insinuating it was you..

Another point is that our credit rating directly correlates to what interest anyone not just Boeing would charge. That is why we saw no new order this last year. Everyone wanted interest rates that just did not make sense.
You are correct though, if a airline went out of business, there would be a lot of jets on the market. Fact is that many of them would be bought up quickly and flying the routes they were under the other old carrier. It still would not change the fact that any airline here in the US still would need to renew their fleets. The jets of today are getting old.
For example, our 88/90, 9's, 757/767, 744 and some 320's are going to be in need of replacing in the next 10 to 20 years. Only the 767-300ER has the ability of that pack to be here 25 more years. Many of the first NWA 320's are getting close to needed major overhauls as well. What that means is that we are going to need to drop a very large amount of cash on the table here and soon. The aircraft manufacturers know that too.
I am with you in wishing No ill will toward another pilot group. We were there a few short years ago and could be there in another year or two as well. As they say, We are the best of the worst. If nothing gives this industry will yet again be on their knees in another year.
Lawmakers love Low Cost. They really have no love for us "High Cost" carriers.

I know they will, but at what interest rate is the key question.
As for the fall of another airline. It looks like LLC is getting close. It appears that their book are not how it seems.
For some reason our management thinks that they or UAUA are not long for this world. That bodes well for the pilots. Because of this firm belief they will keep a lot of people on they do not need so they can react very quickly with a almost overnight capacity increase.

They have been saying that since 9-11. I was at a road show in late September or October 2001 and was told that very thing by Fred (RJ) Reid himself. Since then this seems to come up about once every two years. Was told the same thing at the LAX LOA 19 roadshow through our union guys - XYZ airlines will not make it past ....... I am not saying that it will not happen, hell if they keep saying it, I guess eventually they will have to be correct, but I hope their business plan has more to it then relying on the competition to go belly up.
For what its worth, dying airlines are like Arnold in the first Terminator movie - every time you think they are finished the pop back to life.

I know. They really seem convinced that this is imminent. I say, heck believe it if it means you will keep pilots around.
