Who would have thought 12 years was junior. When I was hired, they told me I would be a NB CA by the time I was 31 and a WB CA by the time I was 40 BBBBBBBWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Things Change, dont they?

So just how many years did you spend trying to "get" to the Big show?

Justify it however you want, it's still paying senior pilots to fly even less than they were (read: in many cases going from some to none) while putting more reserve flying on the backs of junior pilots. While "seniority" is being used to justify this change you don't see the same thing on the line holder side: Senior line holders don't get to take as many GSs as they desire, they go to the end of the line after getting one; they don't get every week of vacation for 5 different weeks throughout the year before other pilots get their bids on on their 2nd vac bid, etc., etc. But yet we hear seniority used to throw junior guys under the bus. Whatever. I'd rather they just be honest with us and say, you're the junior guys and we couldn't give a rat's @$$ how much suck you have to deal with.

I absolutely LOVE the new system. So may senior guys bid reserve in my category this month that I actually got weekends off....first time in over 7 years I've got weekends off. The crazy thing is I couldn't have held weekends off if I bid reserve, but I did bidding a line. I actually think the most junior guy in our category could have held a line, but he bid reserve. So in reality this system just made it so everyone in my category has a choice of a line or reserve....it doesn't get much nicer than that.

You eat three sc's and 40 hrs of flying to get to bucket two. Fact is most senior reservists bid weekends off so they do not reside in the same buckets as the most junior pilots.

You are correct, when it is slow, like it is now, senior guys will be working less but again that is a benefit of seniority. Wrt to gs's senior guys generally work different days and therefore their gs Prefs will be on different days. Also they get better gs's since they can be picky. Should that go away too?

Also per ch11 senior guys could get away with one small trip a month then pass down flying. That is not the case today. Raw still matters and once you hit 80 you sit until everyone catches up. For me that sucks when you want to hit alv but now it makes the senior guys work to a raw of 80 before I can do that.

I agree, I like the new reserve system. I also appreciate the union followed through with the direction of the membership and produced a uniform survey.

They're listening. Hopefully they're listening when they make the opener too.

Am I missing how long the training conversion is on this one? Is this a 365 day one?
