Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
#9301
Different rumor: I heard they were looking at buying the Shuttle America 175's and putting them at Compass. If this happens, Delta would be able to furlough mainline pilots without furloughing Compass pilots. I hope this rumor is not true, but I've heard it floating around out there.
Iheard rumor that MEC knows DAL paid for SA mod but won't admit they got burned for working together with (RA is on board with us)mgmt.Explains reluctance to pursue in face of fairly convincing andecdotal facts.
Bigger question is with 47% ownership and paid for mod what is DAL up to with RAH?

Can you explain this thought process? First, I dont see BB selling his E175s. Second, Compass is maxed on airplanes. I don't even thInk this rumor is possible with our current PWA & LOAs.

Amen brothers. I agree we shouldn't sell ourselves short, but I also agree that strength comes through aircraft on the property. How strong will we be if we allow the flying to continue to be outsourced. We could have been 17000 strong. We are now 12,400 strong. We could be 8000 strong if we don't recapture the outsourced flying. Get the planes on the property. It did us no good 8 years ago to be flying 777s for $335/hour. We only got seven of them. A very small percentage of the guys lived the good life, but that's it. The vast majority were stuck in planes smaller than that, that paid less. More airplanes on property=more opportunities through upgrades, etc.
I'm facing another 15% paycut this fall if I get displaced off the 757. That's on top of the 50% paycuts from the last few years. Couple that with the COL increases of the past 8 years and my purchasing power is 80% less than it was in 2001. I'm sick of the erosion and the feeling that as long as I'm okay than the other guys can fend for themselves. I think Chamberlain felt he was doing the right thing with the Germans 70 years ago by appeasement and looking the other way. We can no longer afford that thinking.

You're right satchip. Even Scope is negotiable, and I am not an unreasonable man. Here are my terms:
1. One time payout of $25 million per pilot on the seniority list
2. Positive space passes for pilots and their families
3. Family medical benefits at no cost to the pilot
With this I'll negotiate away Scope.

The combined pre 9/11 list would have somewhere around 17000 pilots on it. The 2009 list has around 12,400 pilots on it. We arguably are more efficient. But not to the tune of 35%. The loss of 5000 pilots is a result of our arrogance and inability to secure the flying under 100 seats. Get the planes back on the property. Period.

It's over, move on. How 'bout you leave the Greenbook/Redbook crap at the door and we move forward together as Delta...

Why are you guys arguing about making sure that the 195's come on line and don't end up at your feeders? I thought your scope protected against that size of airplanes being outsourced.
Don't you also have scope that protects against a shrinking delta?
Why anyone would want to replace the 9 with the 195 (insert paycut) just so that they get on property is ridiculous.

Eric:
Pilots don't buy airplanes, management does. I don't know if they like the E195.
Our union's job is to grow and promote those on our seniority list. Sometimes it forgets its' job. Our intent is to remind them.
Sorry if your job depends on our outsourcing. We hope to be hiring soon. Getting this scope straightened out is step number one.

The E-195 likely will not make its way into DAL colors by any stretch... DAL does not like it. I'd be looking for the C-series in a few years.

Never say never. If we could get a short term lease and it made sense, it is possible.
We need to quite waiting for this 100 seat jet, and fight for what is in front of us. It is part of reason we have lost so much scope.
