gonna pile on as a Jr UNA. I am planning on getting furloughed on OCT1 along with probably about 1000-1500 other Delta pilots. last time Delta furloughed, 1,310 pilots got furloughed and even with something like 2,000 retirements it still took 6 years to recall everyone and start hiring again. hope it does not take that long this time but I really dont know.

also if your friends in the military leave now and delta starts hiring 2-3 years from now they will not be current in a much more competitive hiring environment. probably better to keep a flying job to remain competitive. delta also has about 3-4 hundred poolies that I really hope get an offer before any hiring off the streets resumes

Unless they’ve changed something, the CJO pool is only good for one year, then it’s back to the invisible app scoring wars to get an interview invite.

I heard 18 months but not much difference. hopefully they offer a re interview to people with an expired CJO before they go back to app scoring wars. they wanted to hire you once, odds would seem they would want to hire you again. anyone with a CJO from 2001 time frame (DAL OR NW) know how this has been handled in the past?

I’m one of the lucky ones with a CJO and no class date. The last we heard is that our CJOs would be valid for “at least” 18 months. People have asked and they won’t give us any clarity beyond that. Basically we’re all just praying they don’t forget about us.

The age 65 extension had more to do with that than anything. That’s not happening this time.

I believe all of the 9/11 furloughees had been offered recall months before "Age 65" came into play.

I still firmly believe management is using this MOAD to garner up more EO takers when it comes out. See what you’ve got left, cancel MOAD or have a new AE come out, and UNA numbers get reduced from what they were on MOAD. It’s a crisis, “never let a crisis go by,” this is a leverage chip towards the union too. Give us relief (wherever they can get it that saves a penny) and we won’t hurt your pilot group too much. Whether they are chicken little or not, they believe the sky is falling and are trying to leverage it on every angle.

With all that said, I believe the earliest we have new hires on property would be 3rd quarter 2022 with little or no furloughed. With large furloughs I have to agree with who said 4 years. At least 3rd or 4th quarter 2023 is my guess.

yes they had all been offered recalled by then. At least at Delta, maybe not true at other airlines.

I promise I'm not blind/deaf to what management is currently doing. I just feel that these policies that have been put in place (parked planes, load cap, etc) can just as quickly be changed and updated. Right now the complaints are that we're hamstringing ourselves with a conservative approach to the rebound. Some people think management is trying to "save face" by sticking to their plan or is overcome by hubris and unwilling to budge. My hope is that as/if our competitors begin pulling way ahead, our team will be forced to adjust...its kind of what their job is.

I know there are going to be a few more dark days ahead. I'm thinking specifically when our 2Q earnings report is released; the amount of negativity that's going to swarm us via financial pundits and media analysts will be interesting to watch...but above all, I simply feel like we've turned a corner and the good news will outpace the bad and our revenue will return quickly. I'm going to stick to JANUARY and watch as these looooong months tick down.

Age 65 was long after those guys were recalled. We don’t from 10,000 pilots to 6300.
