I have just under a 3.00 from an online aviation university and I was just wondering if I'll be bypassed because of my low grades? Would a masters degree offset that? Or would TPIC time and letters of recommendation from current DAL pilots carry more weight? Like I said, I really want to work for Delta and if a masters might help, I'm willing to do it.

As of today at this moment a masters degree is almost required if your a civilian. In the next 5 years I think they will take anyone who has the delta minimums. They also will look at your masters degree GPA and not care as much about your prior GPA.

If they want to hire 1,000 guys a year and they have 8,000 apps. Most of those apps have likely applied at untied, American and southwest as well. United wants 600, American needs 500 and southwest needs 400. That's 2500 pilots in just the next year that will potentially be needed. So in 4 years I bet all of those 8,000 applications will be gone. Right now is pretty stiff competition in 4 years they could take anyone who meets the minimum qualifications.

Master's degree "almost required"? The 3 OTS that got the CJO in my group didn't need one. In fact, 2 of 3 weren't even LCA's…just line Captains.

What about civilian trained, all 135/121 time but prior enlisted military? Does that help at all?

It helps a great deal. Delta respects any military service officer or enlisted.

I have seen very few OTS civilian hires with a Master's degree. It is a not a requirement. If you have a poor GPA in college, a Master's degree with an excellent GPA will help you on your application.

What other things help offset poor college performance?

Haha! That's way senior to me. I wish I had a little more system to work.;)

Anyone have any gouge on the Women in Aviation Conference? I've heard that Delta and other airlines are there and will answer questions.

The conference will be in Dallas in March.

What is considered a poor GPA? Do they take into account the quality of an education by using some kind of college ranking system? If someone goes to a state school gets a 3.6 verses going to an academically rigorous second tier school and gets a 2.9 does the 3.6 still score higher than the 2.9?
