As a former military guy I don't see why they do that. It would seem to be an item one could put in the "pro" column for reasons to go back to do mil flying while holding a seniority number. If the company doesn't like guard/reserve guys leaving after indoc/training they should take the either the 401k or the PS away since they're not working for it. More MLOAers than not are doing things worthy of appreciation and Delta in this case is doing something I personally support. My hunch is that these 401K and PS contributions are drops in the bucket compared to other money they are "wasting"...certainly it's more honorable than enriching their stock holdings' value with buybacks in the Billions. |

How does the company calculate a 15% DC/401K payment and profit sharing payout to a guy on mil leave, drawing zero pay?
When I was activated for Gulf War 1, Delta didn't know me until I got back, and when I did, they took away a couple weeks of vacation, because, "You didn't earn them..." |

im wondering how many military pilots 25-30 years ago who based the decision to not affiliate with the reserves because after all....they had a 60% fae pension waiting at age 60 from delta.....would make the same decision knowing what they know now?
I stumbled into it....needing a second job to just survive on the B-scale....ended up getting a retirement out of it.....damn lucky and glad given what has happened. What was going to be beer money....will probably end up paying the rent. |

Calculated based on the ALV of the category you held before starting MLOA.

No company can, or should, continue to hire people who won't show up to work.
You should also write your congressmen and senators and ask them to rewrite USERRA law, circa 1994 so everyone else could legally discriminate as you'd like to. They are also good people to advise on your wish to expand the active duty force significantly to account for all the work the reserve components won't be able to accomplish without the relief USERRA. Note that active duty personnel tend to be a great deal more expensive than their reserve counterparts, so include some verbiage that you'd like to pay higher federal taxes too. |
