Default Jimmy Johnson running for c44 F/O rep

Jimmy Johnson Candidate C44 F/O Rep to all pilots:
Ladies and gentlemen,

My name is James Johnson but I go by Jimmy. I am running for one of the F/O rep positions in Council 44.

I am in the process of going from an F/O on the 76 ER here in ATL, to the 777 in ATL.

Many of you have followed my writing since before contract 2012. I opposed that contract because it did not restore our compensation back to a greater level than C2K and I opposed this last TA for the same reason.

I did not plan on running, but after all of the texts, emails, and phone calls asking me to, I decided to run.

Over the past 4 years I have talked to hundreds of pilots. I tried to understand what they wanted, how they felt that we should go about getting it, what they where willing to do to get it, and how they thought ALPA was performing to help them achieve their goals. The majority, in my rough opinion, 90% of the people that I talked to said they thought ALPA was in- effective and did not listen to or carry out the will of the pilot group. Most everyone that I talked to were against active engagement. They realized that Delta is a business. There is no Delta family. Yes, Delta might have done something great for you at one time or another, but that is because we have a great collection of people that work here, not because the corporation cares about you. CEO's and upper management come and go. For us, it takes the first have of our life to get here, and once you get here, you spend the rest of your life here until you reach 65, medical out, retire early,or die. That is a harsh reality. While almost all of us have seen different CEO's come and go, we remain here to move the jets, fly the people and sacrifice our quality of life, on the promise that it will get better with the next contract.

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, I don't want to wait for the next contract. I will be representing a group of pilots at this company that spent a significant time on furlough right when they were at their most financially vulnerable. A group of pilots that had their careers stagnate because of the age 65 increase. A group of pilots that had their Captain seats disappear because of Joint Ventures. A group of pilots that worked for crumbs jointing the military or flying for the commuters for the first half of their lives, only to have the promise of reward and security taken away in bankruptcy. Our long list of executives are not worried about their future, their pay is up over 700%. For the rest of us, we worry about putting our kids through school, medical bills and retirement, and OH yeah, flying hundreds of passengers safely around the world.

I understand who I am representing. So, what will I do if I am elected?

First I will oppose any contract, LOA or SLOA, that does not improve all areas of the Delta Pilots pay and quality of life. There is no reason for concessions! None what-so-ever!

Unless Delta Management wants to restore our full pension, there will be no changes to Profit Sharing, what-so-ever!

Pay rates should be restored to a level greater to C2K plus cost of living on date of signing!

If it takes negotiating after the amendable date then so be it! We need to fix this problem right now. Management wants to push this issue down the road. They just want to take their money and run. We all will still be here to clean up the mess that low wages and no quality of life is causing.

If our management does not restore our pay to a level that makes new pilots come into this field at the massive level that all airlines are going to need, than one of our competitors will. That will leave us short on pilots and unable to operate. The executives will leave on their golden parachutes and we will have to once again give back the meager crumbs that we are getting now, all to save the airline.

Restoring our pay is a drop in the bucket compared to the money that Delta is making. Keep in mind, Delta started this money making climb when oil was over $100 per barrel. Low oil just meant that Delta had to get a bigger bucket to carry away the cash.

How do we do it? We get ALPA to spend some of the 54 Million in dues money that we pay ever year. Commercials and newspaper adds showing people how long it takes to get to the Delta Pilot seat and the fact that we are running out of pilots. We have already paid for it, it is our money! Put together a real strike center, with a real location and real meetings to prepare. Accept no concessions and no TA that does not fulfill the wants and needs of the pilots. Stop the divide and conquer set up that ALPA now has and get all pilots form all bases involved in the negotiating process by using social media to inform and involve all Delta pilots. And if we have to, ask to be released for self help!

These are things that I will vote for if you elect me as an F/O rep. If that is not what you want, then don't vote for me. If that is what you want, you will not only have to vote for me, but you will have to get involved. I am here to represent the pilots, so you will have to tell me what you want and I will carry out the will of the majority. That said, I will be only one vote. All pilots from all bases need to contact their reps by any means and tell them what they want. If five guys write their reps and say that they want to be paid in magic beans, and no one else gets involved, then don't complain about your magic beans!

You must write to all reps, the MEC, and especially the Negotiating committee! Maybe, I will help with the next contract, maybe it will be solved before this next round of officers take office, but don't complain about anything if you allow other people determine how the rest of your life will turn out!

If you think that we should make a stand right now, put my name on the ballot, if not, vote for someone else!

Sincerely,

Jimmy Johnson
