Yes....memory.

Honest question qball and gang. Was that procedure designed to produce multiple rotations then recover or just the recovery method for an inadvertent spin? Does that make since? Was it a maneuver or a recovery technique?

Yes to both. You would intentionally spin the tweet and use that procedure to recover from the spin maneuver. It was started after however many spins you wanted to sit through (altitude permitting). It was also the recovery procedure for an inadvertent spin.

If memory serves it was called a Bold Face pricedure. Memory item for both intentional and inadvertant spins. There were others that I don't remember. In the mornings there was "Stand Up' where you were picked at random by the instructors to stand up and recite Bold Face. If you screwed it up, you didn't fly that day.

Unlike GA airplanes, the Tweet was designed, once in a spin, to STAY in the spin if you let go of the controls. If you did nothing, you were gonna ride the pinwheel all the way to the ground. So, once in a spin, it was a memory item to get out of the spin. Done properly it worked every time. We also taught a "spin prevent" but it didn't always work, mostly because it relied on early recognition and a little more finesse to break the stall and yaw.

The Tweet was designed in the early days of the Century Series fighters and there was a BIG emphasis on recovering from "departure from controlled flight" which was a problem with the newer, faster fighters. Since then the USAF has made stalls, traffic pattern stalls and spins/departure from controlled flight a huge emphasis throughout pilot training.

As for the memory item, you had to be able to recite it and write it verbatim without error. In flight it was more like, "idle, neutral, aft, spinning left, needle left, right rudder." wait one turn, jam the stick full forward and recover from the dive.

Bananie hammock has changed the subject.

Has anyone heard if this resolution will be introduced in the other councils?

And recover from jamming your right hand into the bottom of the instrument panel. Did that several times. :D

And no PD, haven't heard if any other councils are going to introduce the motion. Probably not much point in asking C44 Reps until after the elections.

A well calibrated reach could save the knuckles.

Back to the topic at hand. C44 may be sidelined for a few more weeks til voting closes. Even then it would be next year before the newly elected restorationists (is that a word) can perform their duties. I would hope the other councils get on board in the interim.
