Today's Deltanet Headline: "Unprecedented"
Here's what you'll see when you logon to Deltanet today:
"Eligible ground, flight attendant and merit employees around the world will earn more in base pay starting today – 14.5 percent more, a number unprecedented in Delta’s history."
Congratulations to the Delta employees who will be enjoying a substantial pay raise going into the holidays.
Pilots will enjoy their lump of coal, until profit sharing comes along 75 days from now. I bring this up not to be spiteful or to rehash discussion of the trickery Delta has employed to avoid triggering a pay raise for pilots. I simply want to highlight the word "unprecedented." It's a headline that needs to be making the rounds after we have TA2 in hand. It should be a guiding principle for our path forward. Each negotiator should have that word bouncing around inside their skull, as they consider each detail of a new PWA. Same with the MEC and each of us on the line.
Unprecedented. Delta has just demonstrated that the times we are in justify unprecedented raises for most employees. Keep it in mind. Let's run with it. Unprecedented. Period.

The funny thing is during our negotiations we were told by the union that we couldn't get out of line paywise with the rest of the industry. With this raise our FA's are now approx 10% above AA and approx 20% above their pre-give back rates. We are about 8% below AA and about 18% below our give back rates. So I guess that logic only applies to the pilot group.

Well this pretty much sets their profit sharing at 10% which I'd say is a pretty big concession. Worse than in our TA.
So long as the company stays profitable they start saving money in 16. This isn't a 14.5% pay raise after the first year (again, so long as profits are above 2.5B).

Be patient a while longer. The MEC is still in transition.
Malone is consolidating power and we should be ready to "re-engage" shortly.
Once negotiations resume we should know pretty quick whether management is serious about getting an agreement or whether there is going to be a long war.
