I agree, thus why I said what I said.
Delta is no longer Delta. Delta is morphing into SKYTEAM. Management is getting richer, while pilots and employees are concerned about their futures.
In a few years, this management team will sunset and retire with money, medical, retirement and a plethora of perks. The employees will be stuck holding a basket full of doo-doo.
Keep your eye on the ball. Ive said this before, ME3 is a tactic for us to divert us from the real issue of outsourcing/JV/Codeshare/Whipsawing. IMHO, all these big shot managers play nice with each other in the board-room then pretend to compete with each other in front of us.
The shipping industry is making its way into our industry with the help of our own blood.

If you want a crude and over-the-top, but somewhat relevant parallel, think of the ME3 as the Nazi's during WWII, and our mgmt as the Soviet Union. Yes they will be (and in the present even are) our long-term adversary. But in the short term the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and we need to focus on what unites us to destroy the common enemy which is greater.

I don't see a bit of difference morally between the ME3 and the company. RA and friends would do exactly what the ME3 is doing if they could find a way to do it. Delta would love to have labor laws loosened, unlimited subsidies, and blanket anti-trust immunity. All those guys care about is how to make more money.
I bet Sleepy Ed wakes up in the middle is the night and says "why didn't I think of that?"
Anyway, that Nazi/Soviet analogy is absurd. Stalin was responsible for far more deaths than Hitler. They were both evil.

You boys are getting in way over your heads. Let's make the arrangement more like the symbiotic relationship between the pearl fish and the sea cucumber. The pearl fish seeks protection in the anus of the sea cucumber. Not sure who is who in our deal.

If we dont support them and they dont start making lives easier over there, ME3 will implode.

I think our biggest threat is the joint venture agreements we allow in the contract. With each LOA and each contract we allow more and more for the company.
We should spend more time watching our 6 instead of worrying about what's happening overseas.
We have turned out to be one of our worst enemies.

If anything, Joint Ventures have acted as a protective barrier against the ME3. Its hard for them to penetrate our markets when no one is left to be bought or partnered and the Western hemisphere is made into a fortress. The fastest way to erect those barriers was not through organic growth. Given the choice, sure I'd rather have Delta pilots do all our passenger flying worldwide. But given the lousy global competitive situation we're in, I'd rather have JVs than lose all our flying to ME3.
BTW, I'd wager the Joint Venture LOAs have given the Delta pilots MORE flying than our 1.F PWA protections alone.

The money train and back door deals with anything in Saudi Arabia and the UAE is so great that I don't think we have any chance at all of stopping the ME3. It is obvious the current administration could care less about what Delta and ALPA think....customs facilities, Exim, and failing to even look at the open skies violations.
These airlines will continue to grow and expand into markets that we currently serve......unfortunately the best way to counter the threat may be to cooperate with them.
