Default Why Delta is VA's Most Likely Suitor

This is an interesting article. With VA's Love Field Access and west coast feed this acquisition might make sense to Delta's senior execs.

And why it would be highly unlikely: "Huge mega carrier gobbles up LCC. Fares will increase, preventing the flying public from accessing their God-given right to low fares."

Would the DOJ let any of the big 3 buy them?

I agree with this. At this point I don't see DL buying a domestic carrier. Alaska was rumored for a long time, but I don't even think that's likely with regulators and cost involved. VA would be a distraction at this point. I think DL's only likely to buy something for Haneda, LHR, or China access anytime soon. JMO, What do I know? OFG

If this were allowed united would buy JetBlue and American would buy Alaska the following day.

I don't think Delta would buy VX. We don't have much to offer. I think people forget how small we actually are. Besides west coast to jfk, we only fly like 2 or 3 flights per day to the 25 cities we serve. Unless they just want quick access to 60 Airbuses I think this sale is not going to be to an airline.

Nailed it. And we would only have 4 major carriers in the US. Consumers would poop themselves
