Alright for someone who follows almost all of these threads I still find myself surprisingly lost as far as where we are in terms of a new contract. I just joined the hiring pool and I'm curious what the estimated timeline is for a new contract? Especially when I see stuff like this about picketing it makes me think we are far away from one. Do we think it could be months away? Or perhaps a year? Or could it be years? Forgive my ignorance but just looking for the basics. And obviously we want the best contract possible so what happens if it gets voted down again by the pilots...can that just keep happening?

No one knows. Eventually pilots will get fed up and stop helping out. When that happens, operation will melt down. They need all hands on deck as retirements pick up. Time is on our side. The company just doesn't want to believe it....yet. We have the most leverage we have ever had and we know it. For some reason the company is still in denial.

We don't "need" a NEW contract, we "need" a BETTER contract. Our current contract has mechanisms for improvement without concessions. There is no time line for the process but as management continues to drag out the bankruptcy era concessions posting ever increasing record profits, there will be consequences.

In the past 30 years at Delta, most contract negotiations lasted at least 18 months. Some were settled while in mediation, just like this one will be. The company won't get serious about giving up gains to the pilot group until it costs them more money not to. These last few, quick, Proactive Appeasement contracts are something new, but so is self funding our own pay raises after being decimated in bankruptcy.

Our 2000 contract took 18 months, a 96% Yes strike vote, mediation and lots of ground work in the way of informational picketing, TV media and articles in the newspaper, etc. I expect this one will take just as long, perhaps longer, ball's in Management's court right now, they can restore our concessions or they can suffer the consequences.

I hear the first round of informational picketing will be in NYC at the BOD meeting on June 10. Be sure to bid around it. Time to shine a light on Ed's new Condo purchases that WE paid for, and show exactly how many Billions this pilot group has already contributed to Save Delta.

There is really only one similar situation to compare our negotiations with in the last 20 years. Given the depth of the differences in table positions I would plan several years. Don't start spending your raise yet.

I'm surprised ED didn't use Earth day and his new Tesla to buy himself some good press.

Ed will be fired in 6 months if our contract is not completed.

Multimillionaire Doug Parker has an ego that is in league with the Donald. Parker made it clear there would never be profit sharing at American. His job was quickly in jeopardy and he made the good choices his mommy taught him to growing up. He was within months of being replaced. Doug chose to add profit sharing. He chose wisely.

And United? You can see big money will not tolerate incompetence. CEOs are a dime a dozen.

Last months unemployment claims were the lowest in 42 years.

Labor is gaining strength in America each and every day.

Going to war with the Delta pilots will end Ed's short tenure faster than Moak can turn his back on us.

Did he really buy a Tesla? What a tool.

This contract could be Ed's "So Be It" moment. He can play hardball and suffer the scheduling melt down that will result, or he can come to his senses and restore our -no longer needed- concessions.

It was on his Deltanet news feed (corporate sponsored Facebook, look at me postings) He used to have Audis. I don't care what he drives, if cars are his thing fine but the ego driven stuff comes off badly when you are suppressing your employees pay and benefits. Just a reminder he and the rest of the management team circumvented 3.B.4. instead of allowing a contractual benefit to happen in due course. And now we are having to grieve the profit sharing issue too. So much for the benevolent mother Delta. Just business right? So be it. I will tend to my business this summer not Delta's. It's just business.
