Sounds good. If I drive to EWR, and there's a call out for JFK, how do I get to JFK? Do I check in at EWR then continue driving to JFK or do they pick up a cab fare?

Thanks!

On your own for ground transportation. If they call you say ok I'm (insert location) and it's going to take XX long to get to YY airport. However if the rotation ends at ZZ airport the company pays for ground transportation back to YY airport.

Thanks! That's very helpful.

Is there any particular NYC newhire Category that would allow one the opportunity to be home more often (i.e. has more 1-2 day trips and less 4-5 day)?

Sorry for the thread revival!

Bidding a specific fleet because you like the trips is a dangerous game. I have been based in NYC for more than 10 years and many destinations (an thus many trips) change fleets by the season, sometimes month-to-month.

Thanks for the insight -- was just trying to see if there is a general equipment type that 'historically/typically' does 1-2 day trips, realizing of course there are no absolutes.

The only thing I gather from this thread thus far is that the 717 typically has the longest trips.

MD88, 717, 737 by far have the best chances at 1 and 2 day trips. I'm on the 88 and haven't spent one night in a hotel in the last 3-4 months. With that said, in September all the turns pretty much are gone. They come and go month to month no matter what fleet you are on. Good luck.

How quickly can a new hire bid out of NYC and get ATL in an A320 or 737?

Almost immediately. Might even get it in training now.

However, your seniority in ATL would be atrocious. Many who head for the sunny vistas of Chik Fli A land turn right around and come back up on a subsequent AE because they couldn't get days off, etc. YMMV.

I've been here about 6 months (MD driver). My friend is in NY on the 320. He was in the class behind me, and is already at 65% in NY!!! He gets a line and weekends off.
If he was in ATL he would be about 98% and be working every weekend on reserve.
Just FYI
