MD88 A is not an upgrade

It's a Death Sentence!:eek::D

BUT...if it doesn't kill you, it'll make you stronger!

I think that quote applies to M88B.

Not everyone must groupthink the same. Some guys fly the 777 or 765 and bid reserve and rarely if ever fly, except the sim every 90 days. Others cannot conceive of doing that.

They voluntarily downbid. Big difference.

The original poster said he didn't notice anybody complaining about a lack of upgrades. I hear lots of people complaining about stagnation, or worse, regression.

I never flew the 88. I have jumpseated tho. Ive noticed that guys that flew the 88, with very few exceptions, have a twitch. It can be physical or mental. It is noticeable.:D

When I'm the PF on the 73 and call for the after takeoff checklist my hand still twitches to grab hydraulic pumps.....

There has, and always be 'stagnation' the closer one gets to the top. It will take the number 3 guy a LOT longer to get to number 1 than the number 2 guy. Regression at this point is completely voluntary.

Also when in training for more than 5 days United gets 3 hours per day- every day. So for a 30 day month you get 90 hours. This also applies to new hire training.
This is the only airline I have worked for that you actually get a "pay cut" from training to the line.
