You can bang-in sick for the occasional headache or the 24 hour cold with no worry and you are covered for the 100 hour event by a 100% short term disability policy which would require documentation anyway. IMO 240-270 hours is asinine when our disability is as bad as it is. Make Short Term Dis easier to get on and pays more than the 50% (100% for a bit and then 2/3 transitioning into LTD for the long haul) and then they can reduce the hourly amount. And the process needs to be streamlined. One call, that's all. No "deny deny deny" idiots to deal with. We will always need a realistic amount of self verified/unverified/pre-verified though. The nature of our jobs and the regulations demand that we have the ability to call out sick for things that are sometimes UNVERIFIABLE, and would also not be found in a "medical records check". That's just how it is, and how it has to be. Sorry bean counters, safety first. |
