And when was "real Delta" ever here?
Was it when new hires didn't even get a hotel for indoc? Or perhaps when reserves sat short call 24/7? Or perhaps it was the "glory days" when the rule was, if you were an ATL commuter going through qualification training you had to stay in a crash pad, because hotels are only for "training away from your base, and no one forces you to commute." How about no jumpseat, even on our own airline? Or maybe it was gate agents taking a sadistic glee in denying Nonrev boarding because a very slightly faded blue button down cotton shirt "had a denim look"? (that actually happened one time to me back in the Real Delta days of the late 90s).
I'll take today, warts and all.

My point was that it never existed in the first place and if it did, it was a WORSE reality than today's...warts and all. I don't think half the pilots posting here have a clue as to at least some of the onerous provisions we used to have to deal with on a routine basis. I salute ALPA (dirty words though that may be) for slowly but surely modifying the contract to fix a lot of that nonsense.
That doesn't mean we don't have a lot more work to do.

So what you are then saying - if you are right about his happiness - is that you would prefer to go back to the days where we had to beg the CP for the jumpseat and all the other things he mentioned that you apparently didn't read. amiright?

Negative ghost rider. I didn't say I was "happy" with today's contract, nor that we couldn't and shouldn't shoot for more. Did you even read my post? I was throwing the BS penalty flag on the statement that the "real Delta" has been gone for years.

Years ago nobody needed the jump seat, everybody lived in base, 18 days off a month, young F/A's, had to hunt for a C/P. Crew Sked in base. It was just like the Happy Valley Ranch salad commercial. Sorry you missed it.

Whipper snappers! They'll give until Ed stops asking. I'd run for Alpa president, shut the industry down, spend a few weeks in Leavenworth, just to stop this crap. 2 billion a quarter and we're still giving.
