Hold the line and see this contract through self-help if necessary. We are never going to get anything more than what management is willing to "give" us without a bare knuckle fight. |

From an AA guy to you. Your much better off with ALPA. APA can only dream to accomplish what DL/UAL ALPA have done.

Tim Caplinger for President! He'll get us everything and more.

Let alone questioning the prudence of the FAA 'Common Strategy' crew behavior requirements in light of the evolving nature and intent of security threats. Oh yeah, and for opposing the FFDO program. Economics, and crew resistance drove the expedited crew pass through of TSA security. ALPA may have had some hand in shaping the form/function of KCM......but mostly they claim success for something that was going to happen anyways. ALPA is not a proactive organization. There is too much risk in that arena. Otherwise they would be full speed ahead in congress on things like lifting 415c ceilings, and requiring reorganized corporations to backstop PBGC benefits. |

Caplinger did a damn good job of targeting the shortcomings that make ALPA such a clusterjob when he penned the organizational bylaws of DPA. Rules that prevent the piggies from getting to the trough again and again and again. Given what we have seen within the inner circle of DALPA this past decade, you have to be a complete moron not to see the benefits of taking our representation to a superior governing structure. An organization willing to fight for average Joe line pilot...so he can spend time with his family and enjoy life during his working years and well into retirement. |

Most Moakies ask the "how many cards" question to cast doubt on DPA's viability. Bottom line, with every misstep ALPA takes, the cards re-up and DPA is closer to getting full access to present directly to the pilot group. At that point ALPA would need to defend their record. This is what really scares Moakies. The representative group (ALPA, DPA, IPA, etc) with the most convincing argument would then be VOTED in by the pilot group. |

My understanding, they have gotten within 400 of the total number needed. A card is only good for one year. There is a constant flux as cards go inactive and new/renewal cards are submitted. Active cards are what is required. That number may be a couple thousand short. This engaged pilot group could change that number very quickly if things continue the way they are going.

First JM says they can address legitimate operational needs. Apparently, every want the company has just happens to fit the bill. |
