DPA
After looking over the latest AIP from DALPA I'm really worried that instead of fighting for what we deserve, our union once again is inadequate at best. There should be no concessions of any kind in this T/A in order to pass. I can only imagine what the pay rates and vacation/training and lack of retirement will be like.
I'm going all in with DPA, honestly I wish I did not have to but they are the ones with the big picture and professional negotiators. I sent in my donation today and can only hope and pray for a better outcome than we have had under DALPA.... |
I think I'm right behind you. ALPA's clown act is beginning to unnerve me. Perhaps voting people out wasnt a strong enough message.
|
I've always been a solid ALPA supporter (not Moakist however!). But if the NC brings us another concession filled TA, I'll be switching.
|
Oddly enough, just got call from ALPA survey company in New Hampshire. 10 minute voice survey, interested in how long i thought it would take, acceptable pay raises, whether I'd support a strike, whether i thought the company would flinch before released for self help, what i thought acceptable pay rates were for 12 yr Capt and FO on my aircraft (although they didnt ask what equiptment I am on), importance of pay increases versus QOL, and several questions on my faith in ALPA to deliver the goods.

Like many I fly with, I have let my DPA card expire so I could show 100% support for DALPA as we work through these negotiations. I've worn the orange lanyard from day one and gladly walked the picket line in June. I've written numerous emails to my LEC, the MEC, JM, and the NC.
But like the OP, I'm really starting to have a change of heart lately. I do not like the tone of any of the Notepads or AIP's that have been released. It's obvious the NC has spent 7 months working on solving the company's self induced problems and wants/needs. I'm truly getting the feeling that once again, DALPA doesn't think we realize that a whole bunch of little tiny turds add up to a huge stinking pile of BS! They think we'll be blinded by awesome, industry leading pay rates and ignore everything else. If I get one more official correspondence from DALPA that even hints at concessions and company needs, I'm sending in my DPA card again. |
So, what would DPA be doing differently? I'm not sure I'm opposed to it, but anger is not a strategy.

"Over, over...nothings over till we say it is, was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!"

I'm not saying DPA is the Holy Grail answer to all of our problems. I just think it might be time to purge all of the ALPA poison from our pilot group and try a fresh start. |

It would be easier for you to spend a few minutes on their website reading instead of me trying to explain it.

I'm one who has done everything Malone has asked. I've gone to every council meeting, written and called my reps, walked the picket line. I've also worn orange since early last summer.
As one who has wanted to see ALPA right the ship, it's becoming harder and harder to support this gross mis-representation. Year 2000 / DAL profit margin around 6% / DAL profit around 1.3 Billion and the result in 2001 was C2K. Year 2016 / DAL profit margin around 19% / DAL profit around 8 Billion and the result is we need to give up jobs just to hit the pay rates in 2004. UFB Why yes, my DPA card is current. |
