I'd rather see a solid deal in a couple of weeks.
The guys running the show now are the very guys you asked for last year. They're not my choice, but I'd be happy to see them succeed in getting us something we can proud of. By "we" I mean real pilots, in the real world.

Do I hope for a vote that can't pass? No. I didn't choose the current MEC, or even my own reps. I don't like how they govern. I don't like the AIP's much, or the "Focus Plus" strategy. And yet, I'm perfectly happy for them to succeed at the table, because it means I succeed. I just happen to think we're the best people to determine what success means. That can't be done by a few dozen guys on APC. That's the province of the 13,400.
I think most reasonable people that look at the respective positions can see a solid deal. I think there isn't a single person I've ever met that thinks we can actually not negotiate, get parked, and yet miraculously get released to strike. So the other path comes with a serious opportunity cost. It may be worth it, but I feel we should get to make that call.

I think that's a very honest admission, and I compliment you for fessing up to it.

As for who I would have run the show, there isn't anyone past or present that comes to mind, frankly. I don't have any savior to suggest. This is all about the 19 in charge now.

Man... 2018 is quite optimistic if the DPA gets in. I'd expect no earlier than 2020 with the DPA (with perhaps another CBA change in between after they fail miserably like they are set up to do).

A switch to another union right now would likely only give the company cover for stalling and would probably get the board to park us for a bit, you know, for our own good. I agree its a bad idea.
That said, if we get another rejected TA, especially if its DALPA endorsed, that could end up being the catalyst DPA or whoever needs to make their most credible move in years.

They can't win a lawsuit, they write language the company drives a truck through and they only know how to trade our QOL to get a deal. Their losers. I don't get why you and others insist on supporting the losing team.
