Default Yellow Slip Question

I start a stretch of reserve days on Tuesday. There is a trip in open time I would like. Do I use the "First for flying on on-call days", or "Qualifiers to be used only if needed to fly" choice? I never YS so am not sure.

Thanks in advance.

If you want that trip, use "First for Flying." It tells them you really want that trip.

If you don't want to fly, but if you have to you'd prefer that trip use the latter.

You can put in a YS that identifies a trip specifically by number. Put that in as your #1 YS.

As a follow-on I don't think that second option has any significant effect since they assign the trips based on RAW and you're position in the Days of Availability Group. By putting it in as the "First for Flying" option you're much more likely to get it unless someone senior to you has the same slip in. They start awarding next day trips at 0800.

Not sure why you wouldn't JUST do this. If that's the only trip you are interested in flying, just yellow slip that rotation. And lesson learned...don't remove your YS just because the trip falls out of open time. Leave it in and just let it expire if need be.

Bingo. That's how I would do it. That's how I've done it on reserve.
