Quote: I've wondered why we can't do both. How is it the foreign airlines can blacken the skies with a whales and other heavies separated only by wake turbulence minimums to MCO and we struggle to do a single flight on that route?

Not to mention the "convenience" of LHR is mostly a joke. The Gatwick express gets you to Victoria station within minutes of "the tube" anyway so who cares. Obviously we need to fly to LHR, but if GTW is much lower costs and easier to get into, why don't we add some back and do both?
Delta flies to LGW...just not on Delta metal or with Delta employees.

First Bangkok, now Taipei...gone. Joint ventures are awesome. That's all I got.

Depends, want to work for a global airline, or a Hapeville travel agency..

Deja vu, now it's the Pacific routes.

The C-Series (both the smaller CS100 and the larger CS300) will be the Shiznit fleet at Delta. There will be no better flying airplane than the C-Series from a pilot perspective and I believe the CS300 will pay MD88/90 wages given the seat count of 130-150 seats - correct?

It's in section 3, but I believe the CS300 = MD88/90, and the CS100 is a few bucks less.

For now though, I believe we only have orders for the 100 with options for the 300.

Quote: Yup, many years ago a senior Captain told me, "The 5 year plan changes every 3 weeks...". and that has turned out to be pretty much the case. Don't chase airplanes or bases, because as soon as you do, they will move that airframe to another base, or move the trip you wanted to a different airframe, or both.

It is my observation that the guys working in Network keep churning the fleets/trips/bases only to justify their jobs, then they blame the inefficiency of having 10 fleets with pilots deadheading all over the system to catch up with their airplanes, and the expense of all the training required, on the pilot's contract.

To compare our pilot block hour costs to someone like SW, who operates only one fleet, is nuts. But we don't make the fleet plan, but Richard and Ed, the guys who blew $6 Billion on fuel hedges, did.
Exactly, and why some of our union leaders don't get this I'll never know.

I thought that the first 25 orders must be the smaller CS100 and then the following airplanes could be either the CS100 or the bigger CS300?

That CS300 is a cool looking airplane - big windows in the cockpit:
