Fleet Plan
Is there some place that has Delta's known or announced fleet plan. Or more specifically what deliveries we have scheduled the next few years along with know fleet retirement plans.
I am considering bidding another air plane and curious about where the growth will be.
Thanks

Seemingly, the path to take would be:
320B -> 330/350B -> 320A -> 330/350A.
Not for me though.

Ship 3015 is out on the line for the 321 fleet making 15 on property unless 16 snuck in somewhere.

It is my observation that the guys working in Network keep churning the fleets/trips/bases only to justify their jobs, then they blame the inefficiency of having 10 fleets with pilots deadheading all over the system to catch up with their airplanes, and the expense of all the training required, on the pilot's contract.
To compare our pilot block hour costs to someone like SW, who operates only one fleet, is nuts. But we don't make the fleet plan, but Richard and Ed, the guys who blew $6 Billion on fuel hedges, did.

Yup, many years ago a senior Captain told me, "The 5 year plan changes every 3 weeks...". and that has turned out to be pretty much the case. Don't chase airplanes or bases, because as soon as you do, they will move that airframe to another base, or move the trip you wanted to a different airframe, or both.

As for marketing they appear to be doing a terrible job. Perhaps a new team can be hired to bring our yields down to the other airlines.

The fleet plan has been remarkably accurate the last 10 years based on what was put out at road shows. The only real changes were a shift in type from the E190 to the C100 however the C100 was always mentioned as a possibility and keeping additional 757's.

Perhaps we can buy a few more fleet types so we can all be in training at the same time! .
Oh WAIT, there is no fleet type Delta hasn't bought except the 787.
This entire airline could be run with 2 fleets/type ratings, a wide body and a narrow body. Right now Airbus is the only company that sells that product with their A319/320/321 for domestic, and the A330/350 for international.
Boeing dropped that ball years ago when they made the 'New' 737-800 cockpit overhead just like the 737-200, instead of making it just like the 757/767.
Right now Delta operates the 747/777/A330/76-4/767-3/757/A320/737/MD88/90/717 and is about to add the C100 and A350. That's 11 fleets to do the job of 2. Now think about the spare parts inventory that has to be carried for 11 fleets, and the training for the mechanics, flight attendants, pilots and gate agents, and reservation agents, not to mention the extra software required in the reservation systems to book seats on all those different fleets. Now let's have the Network guys change it up every 3 months, putting different fleets on different routes, so we can all deadhead more.
Imagine the money we could be making if Ed hadn't got the fuel hedging wrong and if we didn't operate every airplane ever made, except the 787.
