NN 17-02.............The VEBA!
Thought I'd start a new discussion on the notepad describing the options with the VEBA.
After reading the notepad, I'm leaning towards option one because it allows one to adjust how much money goes into the VEBA (above the $1 per flight hour minimum) by adjusting how much money is personally contributed to ones retirement.
Thoughts?

Honest question. Did you read the notepad? Quote from the notepad:
In the telephone poll and the web-based survey, there are two possible structures for the PRV in terms of funding options, and you will be asked to indicate which of these two options you prefer or whether you would prefer that no PRV be set up at all.

I have absolutely no desire for a VEBA. With all the unforeseen changes that the new Trump administration is proposing, why are we hell bent on addressing anything to do with healthcare now? Take a breather and try to fix some small stuff like DH and nonrev to back of the bus (or maybe just become a functioning union, on the same page with no more recalls)

Here's a paste from our R&I webpage.
you may use amounts in your RHA to pay for Eligible Medical Expenses under Section 213 of the Internal Revenue Code, including medical bills, prescription drugs, health insurance premiums, and long- term care insurance premiums.
Yes supplemental insurance is a qualified use.

I'm in favor of option A due to more control.

Sounds like an HSA that can't be touched until retirement. Can the funds be used for non-medical after retirement?
Either way it sounds like another vehicle to boost retirement savings tax-free in addition to maxing out the 401k and HSA.
