Default FDX MEM Layover

Hey gang.

Looking at jumpseating and heard there's a hotel in MEM that will take us to OPS or wherever we need to go to catch the ride. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

I know the Doubletree in East Memphis is where we layover and they will take you to either the airport or ops. Good luck.

Holiday Inn Select on Democrat is the closest and they run a shuttle as needed to FedEx Ops.

Yep - the Hollow Points Inn will get you where you need to go. If you want to stay during non-standard hours let them know - they are very understanding when it comes to what constitutes a "day" for a room charge.

Tel: 901-332-1130.

Attention for all FedEx crewmembers laying over in MEM. I just stayed at the Fairfield Hotel and Suites on Hacks Cross in Olive Branch, MS. It is a brand new hotel and very nice. I stumbled across a flyer in the AOC and decided to give them a try. Price is $49 per night and with tax it's $54 per night. Checkout time is very flexible up to 24 hour stay. They provide shuttle service to crewmembers 24/7. It is lightyears better than the Hollow Points. See paragraph below. Plenty of ammenities surrounding the hotel and safe! They offer a free breakfast and high speed internet to aircrews. The people are friendly and customer oriented. The ride took 17 minutes at night to get there and 21 to get back the next day around noontime. Factor in how long you will wait for the ride from the Hollow Points and you will already be under the covers at the Fairmont before the Hollow Points shuttle even picks you up! 662-892-4469

I've been staying at the Holiday Inn (Knife Points, Hollow Points, etc.) for several years. It's convenient but frequently not a pleasant stay. Many times I have called for a ride and told he's on the way only to wait 40 minutes and several phone calls later for the ride to show up. The hotel is a 5 minute drive from the AOC so I know when they say he's on his way he hasn't even left the hotel. The hotel is currently under renovation so it appears to be getting it's badly needed refresh.

Just an update on the Fairfield Inn option. I called 24hrs in advance for a room and they were full (Wednesday night). Pinnacle now uses them for layover crews. But they also run the Whispering Woods conference center which is a couple hundred yards away from the Fairfield. Same price, same shuttle service. The Whispering Woods conference center used to be a Holiday Inn training hotel, so the layout is a bit strange, but it was clean and quiet. They serve breakfast, have a laundry room and a gym with updated cardio machines and new dumbbells. There is a wide variety of restaurants within a 3 minute walk of the hotel and the neighborhood is safe. I stayed there for 24 hrs, used their shuttle service to get to and from the AOTC and AOC and had a great night's sleep. Given the choice between the much newer Fairfield or the Whispering Woods, I will probably choose the Whispering Woods just for the peace and quiet. At $49 for 24hrs, it is a great deal.

I was just there last weekend and stayed at the doubletree in east mem. It was a nice place and friendly staff. Not sure on shuttle but there was a few restaurants and bars within walking distance. Did see a few shady ppl walking around at night though
