Default Hotel Recommendation - FlightSafety Dallas?

I'm going to be spending a week at FSI Dallas sometime soon, and was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a decent hotel nearby. My primary requirement (besides it being overall decent and reasonably priced) is that it have a fairly well equipped gym/workout room. I don't need anything fancy, but I do really need an upright exercise bike - helps untangle my aging back - and some basic weights and/or some sort of weight/universal machine. Any recommendations appreciated.

Also, never spent much time in the DFW area, so if there's something to see that I "shouldn't miss" while there, please advise.

The Embassy Suites south location we've had some crews stay at during training (at SimuFlite). Very nice facility, pool, workout room, spacious rooms, couple places to eat at the hotel, free breakfast and free drinks in the evening.

There's quite a bit to do around Dallas, what are you looking for?

I've stayed at the ES that Abort mentions recently and would echo his sentiments about the place. Unless you want to eat at the hotel though, we had to drive a little ways to eat every night. There is another ES that is basically on the northwest corner of the airport that is surrounded by restaurants that some of our people stay at for training (again - at SimuFlite). I don't know where the FSI is in relation.

As for sites - the Stockyards in Ft Worth is full of fun bars and amazing restaurants.
Also - there was a English Style Rugby Club bar called the Pig and Whistle in Ft Worth that you might enjoy is you are an international beer fan.

I just stayed at the Courtyard Dallas DFW Airport South/Irving. Very nice rooms, freshly remodeled. Staff is polite and friendly. Only downside is there is nothing within walking distance. You can't even really go for a walk to get fresh air, unless you walk around the parking lots.

Weekly rate for Simuflite customers, and free cooked to order breakfast.

I have stayed at The Embassy suites - south for the last 4-5 years. I like the proximity to FSI, 5 minutes. I had a rental from Thrifty, $216 all in for a week. Emb suites gave me a coupon code for free internet, $10 /day normally.

BTW, I was there 2 weeks ago. 1 recumbant bike, 2 or 3 treadmills, standard rack of dumbells. FSI or E. Suites may have a deal with an outside gym.

If you can make it up to Grapevine there is lots of good nightlife.

Hilton Garden Inn in Grapevine is great! The hotel located around some great places to eat and not far from CAE/Simuflite/FSI. Beware, they have a ton of road construction going on right now. Staying at HGI will keep you out of most of it!!

Stayed there for 3 1/2 weeks earlier this year. Very quick to training and avoided the mess up north side which is all under construction right now. But yes- you do need a car for food.

Make sure you visit Hard Eight for BBQ. Its north of the airport. Take the Bass Pro Drive exit and turn right at the end of the ramp/stoplight. Bout a mile down on the right. It's a pay by the pound BBQ place and some of the best I've ever had.
