They might get it back. I know AA mainline was not happy when they forgot to include leather in the new uniform. They're trying to get them back.
Last winter going through customs in YUL, 4 hot French Canadian Rouge FAs told me they loved my leather. So we got that going for us, which is pretty sweet.

LOL, the epaulettes for jackets are middle-stitched with Velcro.
