How many days off do you guys normally average on Reserve / Line?

I know you guys get high credit trips / lines (at least on the 900), but does that also come with a lot of days off?

Trying to compare trip efficiency with that of the guys at RPA.

I'm a bottom-third lineholder in NYC on the 900, above the credit push. Even with recurrent training taking up a few days at min credit, I'm getting fourteen to fifteen days off with weekends pretty much free.

On reserve, it's almost always twelve days off. It might be eleven in a short month (18 on out of 29 days) or thirteen in a long month (19 on out of 32 days).

If I were to come on and be able to hold reserve in DTW, how sweet is life on reserve if i live in base? Pretty easy? Work my butt off?
I'd be living about a 25 minute drive from the airport.

FO's don't get used on reserve as much as the captains, but it seems you'll get some use as long as you aren't in NYC. Those FO's struggle to complete their 100 hour requirement because they get off OE then rot in crashpads until they can finally hold a line.

So if i lived in base while on reserve, life is pretty easy? How often does EDV make you sit ready reserve at the airport?

Yes.

They can only have 3 airport reserves a day per base per seat (eg NYC 900 fo). When you have 50 nyc 900 fo reserves a day, not often, and once you have enough seniority within the reserves (which happens fast), never. Depends on the base though. Someone in NYC on the 200 will sit reserve a lot more, as will a MSP 900 FO.

Oh I see. That's no big deal, then. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be sitting at the airport for a year on reserve every day.

And with DTW attainable right after training, or even shortly after, I'm fairly sold at this point. Even if I have to sit reserve for a while, moving my family to a location we'd rather be at (Novi, MI) long term is more important than some of my other options.
