Zed fares
Not sure I’m spelling it right or not but...
How much difference is there in the price of Zed fares and normal fares? I will be a new employee in about a week and my wife is going to travel on these dates below to a gathering. I don’t want to mess with standby so I am wondering if it’s better to buy them now or just wait until employee and buy a zed fare. If someone can look up the Zed fare price I would appreciate it.
October 5th - 8th
FRom GSO or RDU to SAV
Thanks!

ZED fares are standby at the lowest priority and you are not eliglible for ZED till after 6 months of employement. There is a program called Fly Confirmed for Less and that gives you a discount on the actual fare that Delta is selling online.

Almost all Airlines require 6 months of employment before you can buy Zed fares(travel on other airlines). Zed fares are significantly less, average 10% of normal full fare unrestricted ticket.
You should be able to travel on your own airline as soon as they process your travel privileges , within 30 days, depending on your company policy.

These are some confusing answers.
To the OP, your wife will be able to travel on Delta and Delta Connection metal for free (taxes only if international) from basically the day you get hired, with or without you. That would suffice to get you from GSO/RDU to SAV via ATL (although I’ll be the first to tell you connecting through NYC or DTW will likely be an easier nonrev experience).
Zed fares are what you and or your wife would use to travel on other airlines such as Air France or KLM. You can’t do that until 6 months in. Only other airline travel you can do before that is jumpseat as a pilot.
Fly confirmed for less is 20 or 30% off I believe depending on which one you use (refundable or not) although tbh you probably won’t need it for nonrev travel in the fall. Lots of rules regarding fly confirmed for less. They’ll tell you about it in indoc.

I worked at DGS a while back. Delta non-rev is pretty complicated and very unpredictable.
There are two facebook groups that can help.
One is for Delta Non-Rev. There are plenty of people that can answer your questions there.
The other group is for all the non-rev loads. Essentially ZED. All airline employees checking loads for each-other to find out if you are going to make a flight or not. Whenever I asked for a load I would also check a load for someone else. It keeps the group going.
Turn off the notifications for both groups as you will get bombarded with notifications
Do not post screenshots of travelnet- that can lead to disciplinary action very quickly
No one ever gave us a non-rev class, but you can learn everything in the groups.
