COVID19 Impacts

Going with a new thread to separate from chaff...

Anybody think the info below applies to Endeavor as well, or just Delta?

"Delta Air Lines <DAL.N> said Friday the “payroll assistance funds ensure there will be no involuntary furloughs or reductions in pay rates through Sept. 30.”

Depends how DAL can spin it, we are a account held within Delta portfolio - not a separate entity.

Does the airline get Treasury grant money for employees who chose time off without pay?

Based on the email we got, if Delta takes the money those protections will apply to Endeavor as well.

But presuming the company gets the grant because the Employee is on the Feb payroll, is there anything that says they have to give it to an employee who voluntarily took time off without pay? Was there anything in the Emergency legislation that stops them from taking grant money for an employee "on the books" and then not giving to that employee because they requested time off without pay?

No. That's the whole point. They want people to basically self furlough, so they can have their cake and eat it too.

That's probably why the deadline to sign up is so soon.

Id guess it’s to keep Endeavor as inexpensive as possible to stay in Delta’s good graces and all keep our jobs long term

I’m not sure what you’re asking. If you take TOWOP or VLOA you don’t get paid. The grant money goes to the company either way and it’s for the company, not us. It’s not a situation where the company gets the grant money and then distributes it to us.

We have a winner. Everything about significantly reduced hours will be voluntary until October.

Except the stipulation about the grant portion of money is *specifically* only to be used for paying for wages, salaries, and benefits to workers Based on salary and wage data from this time last year, as is stated in sec 4113(a)(2) of the cares act.

So in a way, that's exactly what they are doing. They are getting tax payer money to distribute to their employees that they won't have to pay back, as long as they don't furlough or reduce pay rates until October 1.

On top of that, they are also asking people to self furlough for those that can.

Call it what you want, but that's having your cake and eating it, too.

I'm not saying I blame them. I have no idea how bad the books look. But let's call a spade a spade.
