Default 9E Flights Cancelled/Delayed Due to No Crew

How many flights were delayed or canceled due to no crews that couldn’t commute in since PS disappeared?

Sarcasm? Otherwise the unable to commute policy still applies and positive space is still provided on the 2nd attempt on DL/DCI flights so the effect to the operation ought to be minuscule at best. Certainly more detrimental to one’s QOL.

I think the biggest difference will be people picking up less, because it's not worth the stress, and fewer open time trips will be commutable once we need a backup commute...

The dude joined APC less than a year ago, and already has 540+ posts. This website is his life. Proceed with caution, and have pity.

To be sure, so far today, Delta is having a Brand Day…meaning zero mainline and zero DCI cancellations.

Granted, I'm only looking at one mainline fleet/base, but I saw way more short call reserve today than we normally see on a Tuesday with no weather.

Short Call for us is "promptly available" so 2-3 hours max to airport via ground transport. Granted in NYC this is to the closest to you aiport but still.

Normally, 1-2 a day..Rarely more than 4, even with weather. I saw 8 today on my fleet from 0300 through 2100 tonight.

They are contractually limited on how many times a month they can put you on short call (5-7 normally) so if they keep this up by Thanksgiving they will be low on short call ability.

Getting rid of PSC commuting does not affect the company negatively at all. It puts the burden and stress of getting to work back on the pilot. It sucks but it is what it is.
