Easy drive once a week until Jr. shacks up with a F/A. I kid, sort of. IF he gets hired at EV he might also end up in NY for a stint.
Don't over think it, go for the land, JR. will figure it out.

If i had to say yes or no… yes

But often there’s a lot of base churn the first year at an airline. Id say pick a base you expect to hold by 6 months and move there.

No it would not be beneficial at all. As a former Army pilot moving to Dothan is not beneficial to anyone.

commuting sucks . Especially with no PS. Been doing it for 29 years . For my last 8 years I’m moving to a base .
