Default Forced upgrades

Just saw LOA that’s forcing upgrades. Is this legit?

Kinda funny that the company and the union put out something about this and this place becomes the confirmation!

Not sure about the LOA content, but forced upgrades were already in the JCBA. If the MEC actually got the company to concede something in order to do something already allowed by the JCBA, then that's awesome.

RE has zero backbone.

I disagree. I think he cares about the people at EDV and has to balance people vs operation.

not easy to do with our shrinking pilot group.

Reading the new TA related to the involuntary upgrades, I’m actually impressed with the company. They are allowing you a third chance to opt into the early captain pay program and retention. And you can withdraw from the upgrade but get stuck as a FO for 48 months. Considering there was zero language in our current JCBA, the company and union did a great job formulating language to ease the pain of this whole scenario.

Say what you want about RE, but when you talk to him you can really see he cares about the pilots and people of Endeavor. He can only do so much.

Will anyone share a link to this LOA?

This is how a company is supposed to act. Upgrades are desperately needed, they are allowed to be forced per the current JCBA, and the Company reaches out to the union to help mitigate the unforeseen consequences of doing so. Both come to an agreement. Compliments are in order, not criticism.

Ironically, this may have the effect of pushing out FO's to LCC's and other carriers. Those that were content of living in base until a CA position became available in base are now looking at a commute to NYC. No better time to jump ship if an outside offer is available.
