I don't use cash normally, but twice a year I go to the bank and get a bunch of singles. It's not that hard. |

Your absolutely right i'm going to ask them for change for my $20. $20 worth of service was not provided. This isn't a high end steak house. It's a van ride to the Hilton.
You don't end up at the destination with enough fuel by coincidence or mistake. You don't get on the shuttle by accident. You don't guess about the weather, the rotation speed, or where you'll stay tonight. Perhaps you're incapable of carrying enough shirts to get through a trip or remembering socks that match, but then that's why you get paid the big dollars. You can probably remember to pack a few fives for your upcoming trip, too. I really bet you can. However, if you were too dense to remember to bring change then yeah, give them the twenty. Maybe next time, you'll remember.

But to expect a person to precisely pre-arrange before a trip, or during their 4 leg day, to allocate just the perfect amount of tipping money is ridiculous. I could literally care less if my fellow crew members tip the driver. I do it, but that's just me. I don't even really want to but I do. And your suggestion of putting five hundred in fives in your bag, you don't possibly think that's a good idea. Sheesh.
Yes, I do go to the bank and get a hundred bucks in fives, and put them in my bag, strictly for tipping. I usually keep several hundred in there, because I do a lot more than four day trips, and I tip for things other than the van ride, too. Don't be so cheap that not even a pawn shop would take you. |

It's 2023.
It's embarrassing seeing uniformed crew members who either don't tip, or who actually hand over a measily, stingy, paltry one dollar bill. It's embarrassing when uniformed crew members ask the van driver for change. "Here, I have this, but I only want to give you a little. Can you make change so I can give you the least possible? Can you break a five so I can give you a one?" Grow up. Tip the damn driver. Throw a hundred in fives in your bag and you'll always have a five to slip the driver. Go to Harbor Freight, buy a cheap screwdriver, and pry that wallet open. It may be painful, you'll live. |

Did you remember to bring clothes with you to work? Did you remember to bring your pilot certificate? If you can do those things, you can also remember to bring some singles.

Maybe next time, you'll remember. You can't plan for a four day trip? Seriously? You need to get out of aviation now, before someone gets hurt. Truly remarkable. How did you make it this far? How do you open the door to your car to drive to the airport? Have you ever come close to starvation because you couldn't remember to eat? Forget to breathe, sometimes? Really? If your comment was just a generic rage against folks that don't tip then fine. But none of the things your comments insinuated or referenced would apply to me whatsoever. |

Mexico is different. They expect it because they know the Americans are used to tipping. I was in Europe recently and no one tips. They just actually get paid by their employer for the job the do.
incidentally, in much of Mexico, police are paid very poorly. A majority of their total income comes from shaking down (the bite / tips) people they stop. |

I quoted you, and responded to you. Was my quoting you and responding to you then directed at you personally? Go ahead. Guess. I bet you get it right.

In theory that should make you happy that I do in fact tip 100% of the time, no?
You figure out if your tipping makes me happy. I bet you get this one right, too.

Tipping isn't about you compensating an employee to adjust their wage. It's about being less of a god damn cheapskate and acting more like a professional: something you don't appear to have grasped. Five bucks isn't a big chunk of that per diem. Take a deep breath here: sharing a little bit of it won't kill you. |

Because as I typed to the last guy above, you'll see where I literally indicated that 99.9% of the time I tip with my own cash, and the other rare instance where a guy ends up without a few bucks, I bum it off my partner. Did you not see that? In theory that should make you happy that I do in fact tip 100% of the time, no?

I don't care care about you. I won't lay awake at night thinking about you, or worrying if you're tipping. You figure out if your tipping makes me happy. I bet you get this one right, too. You call that "rage," do you? Do you still live with mom and dad and have a very sheltered life? Only child? Spoiled a bit, maybe? My comments apply to you because I QUOTED YOU. Wear long sleeves so that thin skin doesn't get sun burned. Is it really that important to you to make sure you control how much that van driver ends up with at the end of the day? You're really such a small person that you're worried about how much he makes, or has in his pocket? A little schadenfreude going there, maybe you want to hold that guy down? Is he not as good as you? Tipping isn't about you compensating an employee to adjust their wage.
