ATP-CTP at CAE - what to expect?
Hey gang -
I'm heading to ATP-CTP at CAE in Eagan soon. Can't seem to find much online info about the program or what to expect that week. Studying Sheppard now but the recruiter did tell me that I take the ATP written on my own when I get back home. Any insight into what the week is like as well as tips/tricks for nearby grocery, restaurants, etc.? Thanks.

the ATP-CTP is 3-4 days of PowerPoint presentation and videos about aerodynamics, weather, lessons learned from accidents, and other stuff that I can’t seem to remember. The last 3 days were sim sessions where you get to fly a plane. I did mine at CAE in Dallas. I can’t speak for what it looks like in Eagan. But overall, it is very low threat(if any). The sim sessions were cool. You will do stalls, windshier recover, some demostrations on what it looks like to get an RA, or GPWS hit etc. you also get to land the plane. I’d say sit back, and enjoy the week.
I would recommend to study and focus on the sheppard air prep. This course does not prepare you for the written test.
p.s. if you have any jet experience, you will
be bored out of your mind. If not, chances are this is new stuff and may find it interesting. #flygooddontsuck.

I will be starting mine in Dallas on 06/12. With you being assigned MSP, you will get the CRJ sims (lucky). In Dallas, they are business jet heavy. I am assigned the Falcon 50 EX. I had a choice but wanted to do it at the Dallas location. But even out of Phoenix, it's either the business jet sims or the regional sims. I would be surprised if someone actually got assigned the Boeings or Airbuses for atp-ctp...just guessing based on the sim costs to the company.

I was originally going to be in a mid-May class but had to push it out. Now I am in the 06/26 Class. ATP-CTP starting 06/12.
So congratulations and welcome. Great to meet you here and hopefully we cross paths while still in training in MSP.

Words of advice... I spent 11 years there and flowed to Delta, originally a Colgan hire. Endeavor is a great home. Don't let the negative few ruin your experience. Management there cares about you, especially the vp of flight ops Russ...I had to get home asap when my little brother was injured in a rodeo and for months Russ would reach out every few weeks and ask how my brother was doing.
Do the job, follow the contract, and have a good attitude and you'll enjoy it. Allow yourself to be bitter, fight with scheduling, etc and you will hate it.
In the 11 years I was there I went through the bankruptcy, being bought by Delta, covid, and the flow. It just kept getting better... Yes there were things I didn't like such as rerouting of lineholders, atl being invaded by skywest, and there were challenges along the way due to staffing mostly... But overall its the best experience you'll find at a regional...its all about your own attitude. Even more at the legacy level... Good attitude=good experience and such.
Remember, the few negative Nancy's here on apc are a tiny minority responsible for the majority of the negativity. Dont let people who hate their own circumstances ruin yours. You'll also encounter the negative millennials who are angry they've been at the regionals for a whole year and can't wait to get out.
Youll clear a hundred k your first year and upgrade as soon as possible, making 200k! I know that the flow says 6 or 7 years, but I would be shocked if it took you more than 4 to flow up. And when you do, its fantastic. Every time I turn around at Delta someone is asking me how Im doing and is everything going well!
I personally hate change, so I stuck it out and waited to flow. Others make the decision to go to an lcc then legacy... If that's for you then cool. But contrary to what some say, making a life for a few years at Endeavor until flowing is a great way to build a nest egg and have great quality of life.
