That is not borne out by reality. The vast majority of the company credits over 80 hours a month. Taking the salary asks a much much much larger portion of the company to forgo a payraise versus what would ultimately be a very small paycut for the small percentage of the company making close to guarantee. And that of course ignores improvements to vacation, sick time, and 401K as well as improvements to quality of life such as long call reserve.

Cool story bro....this BS logic of screw the junior guys in each seat and base...that is not the answer. Helping one part of the pilot group and neglecting some other parts is not a solution. Quote I got from the MEC chairman when I asked about this...." oh I bet you will credit more than 83 on reserve".....so what the hell is the union and the company going to do when I don't?? are they going to make up the difference so I don't have to take a pay cut/ and or take my self down to 8 or 9 days off and never see my kid....we have so many guys here that will just say yes to what the hell ever.

Why the hell do you think the company wants a salary?

Because you will be working for free.

This is not based in anything other than opinion. What is the duration of this contract with hourly rates? If you are willing to take hourly rates for 5 years duration, we just lost tens of thousands of dollars. The math based on converting $23000 to 83 hours, equates to a raise of $2.09hr on 75 hours. That's a hell no. The C-series at Delta is going to pay 5 times what the CRJ 900 pays with only 24 additional seats.

I would rather wait until section 6 to negotiate, this is becoming a disaster quickly.

That's the point I was trying to make with my post...the company and union data, as well as the limited sample of talking to fellow Captains and FOs support the fact that most people credit above 83 hours per month. The dilemma we face is that is it worth reducing the pay raise for the majority of pilots to protect the pay of the vast minority? According to union data, 159 people (less than 10%) credited less than that last year.

you seem quite upset. Instead of just being super negative on here... why dont you do something about it? voice your opinion in a more professional matter to the MEC or join in and make a difference. Or you can quit and go elsewhere where you may be happier, but I doubt that. Just here to stir the pot.

And I bet you wear the hat and get in line with the rest.

Nope, the problem is we should not be talking concessions for any part of the group. The $23000 should based on 75 hours period, or guarantee should be raised to 83 hours.

Why don't we just take the money out of sick pay, nobody should be calling in sick?

I would rather wait until section 6 to negotiate, this is becoming a disaster quickly.

You will make more money if they do it at 75 hours no doubt.

My point was don't take the salary option because then most people will not realize the hourly bump if they work more.

You can debate 75 vs 83 all day long, but this $23000 everyone is counting on is temporary.

Section 6 negotiations will come and the bonus will be gone until a deal gets worked out. And you know the company will be in such a hurry to negotiate at that point.

The time is now to get this as an hourly wage increase. We will shoot ourselves in the foot if we push to section 6.

I bid for min hours and get awarded 75 every month and without picking up a single day I always have at least 83 hours, so I know most people will have more money than a $23000 "salary".

And everything over 83 will be more than $23000. Don't get me started on how much more you'll make at time and a half.

If what you say is true, the company will simply drag its feet until section 6 anyway. I don't see a deal getting done for hourly without massive duration. The reason is costing, bonus money is paid out of Delta's free cash pile, where hourly, due to accounting standards has to be accounted for in the bottom line. You are giving up a lot of future gains for not much.

Yes, your logic is flawed because basing it off 83, means your first 100 hours over guarantee is paid at the old bankruptcy rates. You don't start making more until after that, and then if you drop a trip, or call in sick, you are immediately put behind, requiring double time to make it up. Then for every 100 hrs over 1000, you make an additional $2300.

If you want to commit to a long duration contract that is equivalent to $2.09hr raise, when Delta just signed a contract for a 20%+ raise....

Well I haven't gone over 75 hours of pay in 5 months sooooo there's that. I am also on reserve and shouldn't have to give up min days to go over 75 hours credit. There's a thing called QOL and family! I am also no where near a line.... and no not bidding NYC..
