I think it’s debatable whether or not those 900s would of been sent elsewhere had the pilot group voted no... But we also got the SAP and other gains out of the vote. And all except for maybe 80-100 pilots who remained at PSA after the vote on the contract are now at AA so I guess it worked out for them.
This is not true. The SAP was part of the new 2013 CBA which took many years to get. The only reason the contract went through with things like the SAP and critical pay is the fact that US Air wanted long term contracts at the wholly owns to make a possibly merger easier. Piedmont got a new contract at the same time.
The 900s came over under a LOA which was done several months after the 2013 contract. The 900 deal was offered by old AA management to the PSA pilots prior to the AA - US merger and the deal was contingent on the US -AA merger.
US Air did not offer the 900 deal, it was old AA management and US air played along. The first batch of 30 900s was offered by old AA management and Eagle could of operated those 900s but AA said you're too expensive we are offered them to PSA if they accept 12 year pay caps and PSA took the deal. Folks that sat on the PSA MEC during the time of the deal can attest to that along with the CBA going through. The seniority based SSP was also part of the 900 deal which was a big carrot along with the 900 growth. The SSP was not seniority based prior to the 900 deal and US air was mostly taking women and junior pilots prior to the deal and just giving the required amount of interviews but turning most people down.
