Default Captain Displacements

Is it a for sure thing that anyone with 1000 hours of 121 will continue to get displaced on their first vacancy bid after training? Has it only happenned once so far or has this been going on for awhile? If you are a CRJ or 175 FO, will you still be displaced to 145 CA? What happens if you are displaced to 145 captain and fail the upgrade? I'm assuming if you are forcing people who don't want to upgrade that failure number has got to be higher than it would be otherwise. I'm all in on Envoy but I've been out of the cockpit for a while and I dont think I could jump right in to the left seat. Thanks

No guarantees, this only happened once so far. If not enough people bid for captain positions. (Some Choose not to, others don’t have the time). They can assign the most Jr pilots open vacancies. On the last bid DFW 145, and LGA 145 both went quite Jr.

It's not a gurantee that they will in the future, I'd wager they will until it hurts the recruiting...which it will at some point I'm sure. Hopefully they see the errors in their ways and incentivize upgrading by giving captains better pay rates. I hold out hope they will do the right thing, at some point, maybe.

I'm aware of what it is. It would be a new airplane, new company, and my first time acting as a captain. I've spent enough time in the industry to understand the enormous responsibility it is to sit in the left seat. I'm sure I could get through the training, but that doesn't mean I'm ready to handle all the things that are required of a captain other than flying the airplane from point A to point B. I want to be confident that I am truly ready to be in command of an aircraft with 77 peoples lives in my hands on a daily basis.

Give me a break. Ask about the flow-back program. AA pilots flowed back here straight to the left seat, New company, new airplane, many of them first time captain.

If you doubt yourself, you shouldn't be behind the controls of any airplane.:roll eyes:

Should've gone to Riddle instead.
