Training Department Displacements

Does the contract allow immunity to displacements (forced upgrade) if you are in the training department but still on the seniority list?

Basically that due to a lack of people going through the 145 program that Instructors/Check Airman would be forced back into the line

This. It's happening this summer. 45 day notice was sent out today that displacements are coming to 145 sim instructors back to the line. We are overstaffed on FOs and hiring is slowing, with the exception of CA qualified new hires.

All bets are off when looking at the future now.

How many do we even have on the 145? The smart thing would be to can these garbage PSIs. Multiple failures on their checkrides. The company wouldn’t let them make it to the line, so why have them teaching our new hires?

If recruiting is indeed hiring into a pool and class dates are on pause, it is not a very good sign for any pilot that is not holding the base they want or is looking to get off reserve. The wait to hold a line in your base of choice could go from months to years if the slow down is big enough.
