Default Pay and upgrade

Just a RTP guy about to pull the trigger but, what is the average start out take home pay a month for a guy starting out at Envoy when everything is calculated in (per diet ect). Also, how soon can you upgrade to captain, realistically, I have heard from 1 year to as far as 3 years.

Notwithstanding the sign on bonus you will make 64 hours per month plus per diem during training. I believe they are starting new FOs at pay step 3, so $38.28/hr. 64 hours * $38.28 = $2,449.92, plus 24 hours * 30 days * $1.90 per diem of $1,368.00, so during training for a full month you’ll see $3,817.92 pre-tax. Once you’re on the line it will be 75 hours ($2,871) for reserve or the line value (upwards of 91 hours if you get a strong line) plus perdiem (depending on flying).

As upgrades now are instant for those who have part 121 time required for FAR 121.436, if you have no 121 time I would expect it to be a bit longer. Probably 2-2.5 years, as it will take 1.5-2 years to get your flight time and you’re being hired after a glut of first officers all scrambling for time to upgrade.

I believe it is only 16 hours of "per Diem" per day while in training.

Default Wait time for class DEC

Is there a waiting time for a DEC class? If so, how long before they give you a class date? You have complete FO IOE first before heading to upgrade class?

They will put you in the first available class. No wait for "DEC"... although you aren't technically a CA when hired. You are hired as an FO go through indoc and then home. After a vacancy/displacement bid gets put out you will get displaced to CA 145 and then start systems. They are about to start running vacancy bids every month so the down time for DECs is limited.

The dust hasn't even settled on this latest vacancy and that's the word from on high, eh?

They told us in the interview to expect to be displaced to CA after Indoc during CBT’s. Didn’t say anything about having to wait for a bid.
