DEC pool is running dry. New FOs are a dime a dozen. Tons of 1500 CFIs out there that want in.

No surprise there. The QOL for DEC's is atrocious.

Flew with a DEC last week, he said it seemed like a good deal at first (the money) now he’s trying to find a way to pay it back. He wants out.

The DECs from our class are either happy, or absolutely miserable.
Depends if you live in base or not.

If being on reserve at a regional indefinitely sounds like a good deal, by all means have at it.

Their motivation was not to work, and it seems to be working for them.

But don't get me wrong, I agree with you. DEC QOL sounds like a pain to me. When they're done with the bonus money, they're stuck with the crap CA pay for a long time.

dera, for the love of all things nice and sparkly, build a base for an opinion before voicing one.

Don't take it personal, since you very well may be a great person in real life, just bored out of your mind and with the phone charger plugged in, but it is becoming tiresome to come here and see your unsubstantiated comments in half the threads on APC.

DECs enjoying not working? Are you for real? N6D the OCC list and glance over the monthly flight times and JMs.

Yes, I am for real. The ones I've kept in touch with haven't flown a single trip off IOE. And they are about to start 145 training. I'm assuming they will fly even less then. Works for them, like I said. Maybe at some point it stops working, but for now that's how it goes.

Wasn't it you who said Feb2018 hires can't hold a DFL line? Speaking of baseless opinions.

edit. Had to check, yes it was you.

Well the long and short for the DEC's is that they shouldn't come here anymore. Regardless of how good or bad it currently is, the company is going to stop hiring them later this year and it will suck to be that last person on the list.

It is me and I was looking at the month of February. March is, admittedly, better.
Per the interactive seniority list, for February the 2/26/18 doh is right about the jr lineholder.
March looks like 4/23/2018 doh would be it before being pushed down SOME by the senior pilots bidding reserve.
Feel the difference between that and "couple of months of reserve"?
