Not sure on new scope but old scope allowed 10 percent of aa narrow bodies be flown by regional hub to hub.

The Mesa flight PHX to DFW is allowed once a day due to maintenance facilities. I think there are clauses to allow limited scope on things like this.

I make it a personal policy never to jumpseat on Mesa. I don't like listening to their stories about how unfair it was when they failed their training at Envoy, or Endeavor, or Expressjet, or GoJet, or....

They’re allowed under a grandfather clause from when they were flying for US Airways. It’s the same reason why Mesa was allowed to keep their 79 seat configuration on some of their CRJs.
