I've never told anyone I work for American. I have noticed, though, that non-aviation people that know me and have heard me explain the difference will continually refer to me as 'working for American'. Apparently the distinction only matters to me. Hell, even my wife struggles with it apparently because she never refers to either Envoy or American.... she just says I work for "the airlines". Plural like that... as if I worked for ALL airlines. lol
Much like the poster above, despite my repeated attempts, it seems you just get lumped in. I cant say I blame them, AA goes to extreme lengths to blur the line of their mainline/regional operations.

Yeah I would agree. The only people that care are ourselves as most dont understand the way the system is rigged, even after explaining it to them.

I agree, however even that is getting harder and harder for them to do. Virtually every piece of branding is the same, from the drinks, the seat pocket material, the uniforms, the paint schemes, the flight numbers when you look them up etc.
They can suddenly say it isnt mainline when something goes wrong, but all people see are the similarities on the news.

I agree, I was referring to it from a customer standpoint.

You gotta tell them your flying for the minor leagues. The Busch league. The B team. When you finally put your “dues” in 10 years later you get to commute to LGA or PHL and fly a slightly bigger plane. Because we fly little Barbie jets.
