While I agree that there is work that needs to be done in the contract negotiations ongoing right now regarding soft pay and QOL (more so QOL), you have no idea what kind of income AA pilots are making. You can work the system and make money. We have narrowbody FOs with just a couple of years on property making over $200k or more. We have plenty of CAs making $3-400k+ a year. And the cream of the crop widebody CAs who really work it making well north of half a mil a year. Again, not taking anything away from Spirit. Great gig. Awesome QOL for those guys and still great pay. But there is a ton of money at AA to be had. But if you'd like to educate me on our contract further, by all means...
What are your thoughts on the debt AA carries and does the union have any concern over that? |

You also have narrow body FO’s with 18 years on property. While what you say may be and likely is possible, what percentage of them are making that? My guess is that number is pretty small and going very senior.
What are your thoughts on the debt AA carries and does the union have any concern over that? The only 18 year FOs are there by choice. |

Can the average 3-5 year FO make that kind of money without being going 18 days a month? |

Oh absolutely they are, I get that. I just wonder if these FO's making north of 200K are doing it because they are senior and can get these trips and credit due to them being that senior.

It's really pretty easy to do $200k per year as a junior narrowbody FO, and 16-17 days off would be pretty normal for a 4-6 year FO, at least in the bid status I was in - LAX 320.

I’m just past that range (737FO) and made well north of 200. I spend a lot of time at home. I live in base which is crucial.

Yeah will take me about a decade to flow, but am very excited that is if AA is still in business or if the economy doesn’t tank...

Trust me. AA isn't going anywhere. Not sure what you are worried about.

1. Trusting you 2. Thinking something won't ever happen.

I mean he says in the post you quoted the FOs doing it have only been there a few years.
Anyway, looks like it has been answered. |

Interesting and thank you for that information. All good news to be honest.
A fools game: 1. Trusting you 2. Thinking something won't ever happen. I asked if the "average" FO can do it. Sure there are some that are in that time range that are, but would one consider that par for the course of guys/gals doing something extraordinary to make it happen. Anyway, looks like it has been answered. |

I sure am interested in why you think AA will be going away. No way is the largest major going anywhere. More expanasion is the way things are going if you haven't noticed.
My point was that someone shouldn't base their decisions on the best case scenario which in my opinion you are arguing for. I plan on going to AA, so I certainly not trying to disparage them, I just also know that things can change and change quickly. |
No one can say for certain from either side of the above argument what will happen business-wise to any company in our industry. 1920’s=2020’s. Study history. Best to give yourself outs if things turn sour.
