A recent class had the choice of MIA or ORD for First Officers. Its' been awhile since I've heard newhires getting MIA on day 1. Otherwise, you can plan on waiting a few months, probably by the time you are finished with IOE to hold MIA. And to hold Captain in MIA? Plan on 3-ish years. But, as always in the airline biz, your mileage will vary.

Can you get to MIA airport in 2 hours from where you live in Orlando?

That's good to know. I live in West Palm Beach and MIA is only an hour's drive away; 1 1/2 on Tri-Rail and Metro Mover!

If you take the Brightline it's only an hour from WPB to MIA downtown, and then the Metrorail to the airport.
