Welcome to AA. Using up all the reserves is part of the staffing model. Did they cancel a flight for lack of crews? Until that happens management will be happy with minimum staffing levels.

Everything hinges on what happens in the fall. If demand holds up then hiring will resume. If not then shrink to profitability begins.

So cross your fingers that people keep buying airline tickets with money they don't have and credit card companies continue to let them.

This is how fast the music stops. Hiring occurs at such a breakneck pace that movement seems to be permanent then in the space of a month or six weeks all the desirable employers stop hiring and less than a month later so does almost everyone else.

I suppose it might go either way. Piedmont's pretty small. And with all the new 175s coming in, it probably wouldn't make sense to resort to that drastic of measures, but somebody else pointed out that whenever one WO carrier takes action, the others likely aren't far behind. As cryptic as EPR is, we probably wouldn't hear of it until the decision has already been made.

I flew with an instructor pilot recently who was pulled to go fly the line. He said the people in the school house don't expect him to return until hiring picks up late fall.

Do we know if there was an indoc class that started today, and if so how many were in it? Unless something changed, I am expecting to get a call this week to be scheduled for both CTP and Indoc when I called last. I wish we would all at least get another update email so we can have some sort of idea of what to expect in the coming weeks.

I believe they are still accepting applications but they have not met for a Captains Review Board in +5 weeks (even for cadets). On top of that they have 100-150 (maybe more?) people waiting for class dates to be assigned. They are taking people in order of thier old orientation date and within that they are scheduling cadets first. From what people have been saying on here, a lot from the May orientation group have yet to be rescheduled.

The CRB meets next week on the 11th. Not sure how many applicants they'll get through in that one day who are waiting to pass the CRB. For those of us with ATP already completed, I wonder if the CRB meeting will move things forward or not?

Yes their was an indoc today. Their is 4 people in it and 4 people in the July 15th date. One of my fellow IP's is in todays class.

One can only hope.
