Just curious if they are setting up interviews prior to mns. I'm at 1250

I'm at 1300 now with a R-ATP(1250). I had my app in at like 900hrs so a couple months now. Just got my written done and sent them a email the same day. I got the interview invite 2 days later.

Rumor is Envoy is currently interviewing OTS pilots with an ATP written and zero Part 121 time--that is their target group after cadets. I don't think you will get an interview without ATP/RATP mins and the ATP written in the current environment, though cadets are still getting the ATP-CTP paid for.

Our union says there will be no AA classes in June and therefore no flow but they expect training to resume in July. I expect Envoy will keep running new hire classes every two weeks anyway. There are a lot of FO vacancies in the vacancy bid being run next week, especially in DFW and ORD.

Did you have 1500 and written completed prior to applying? just curious if they are talking to prospects with written completed prior to 1500 (im at 1250 OTS, planning on doing atp ctp soon).
Thanks much

I wish i knew it was this easy! lol. I finished rATP mins and ATM written back in January, have had applications in since October, updated weekly. Then a buddy said that he just emailed, so I did the same, 2 business days later had an interview date. By the time I get to the interview will be at unrestricted ATP mins, so guess thats good.

Any idea what is competitve currently for OTS hires?

sounds like at ATP minimums or close to it, ATP written done, and CFI time over turbine (unclear if the latter is true but I do have friends who can’t get interviews while CFIs are)

ATP mins, career CFI. CTP is a plus, but already having your ATP, 121 qualifying time, or turbine is a disadvantage- word from the recruiters is that their management would prefer to give the CFIs who slogged it out during last year's slowdown a chance before considering anyone else.

Not doubting what you are saying, but how does it make sense to hire pilots with less real world experience over those with experience flying in Class B, Class A, turbine, etc? How would being proven already with 121 time or an ATP or turbine time be a disadvantage? I'm just trying to understand the thought process there. Thanks

Supposedly, it's because CFIs are more likely to stick around longterm rather than previous 121 experience who might hop ship to United or Delta soon.

That's the most logical explanation. In the captain shortage days they liked prior experience for quick upgrades. Now that upgrades are slower they want pilots most likely to stick around for the upgrade slog. The ideal situation would be to have all FOs with 1,000 121 SIC but no PIC so they are immediately upgradedable but unmarketable. Remember generals always fight the last war. Whatever the next shortage is going to be will be caused by their efforts to ensure a captain/check airman shortage doesn't happen again.
