Later when Envoy is consolidated completely, you'll still be getting hired by AA HR and you'll be flying a E175 E190 painted AA instead of Eagle... except now you'll have an AA number on day one. It's all slowly coming back in house over the next several years. |
When you say consolidated you mean stapled at bottom and no years of service for pay correct?

Not the Envoy of today, but the Envoy of next year maybe when 3 other regional airlines are merged into Envoy or Envoy is merged into one of them.
The regional airlines next strategy to keep this B scale operational is to merge into just a few regionals. That way pilots have even fewer options as to where to go. You either get behind their banner or you are out. You want to get to mainline? Tow the line and know your place. Be thankful you are even here no matter how bad it is. Lengthy upgrade times at some point. In my view, this is why Envoy must have 12/4. Without it, how can the groups hope to be merged successfully? All theory of course  |

It will be mainline doing the hiring. You start at Envoy, then flow to AA. The pilot hiring and selection will be done by AA HR. You get your AA number once at AA, but your place on the Envoy list determines when you flow.

Yeah, poor choice of words on my part. Their idea is to have them go from Envoy to AA in order of their Envoy DOH.... not to place them on the AA list by an Envoy DOH. In other words, their place on the Envoy list determines when they go over to AA as a new hire. With no street hiring, their place on the Envoy list is the same as where they will be once at AA. Is that more clear?

who knows how that plays out. I would guess that it will be done in such a way that it will resemble a staple.
Do you think I have a shot at flowing over within that time frame? |

And in the end, management gets their mainline b scale.
That would make the "gap" 47 seats which is probably a good gap, especially if it keeps the pilots and contracts separate. |

12/4 allows them a better chance at limiting compensation to more manageable levels at the regional should the flow-thru mechanism stop for unseen circumstances (just like the past). You get a whole new group of 12+ year captains making less every year thereafter once inflation and health care are factored in, not to mention a contingent of 5,6 or 7 year F/O's scraping by at 4th year pay. Flows are great when they work as advertised, but no replacement for when they don't. So far, the flows at AA have ranged from marginal (the present 824) to a miserable failure (Letter 3).
Regional Airline pilots are all so worried about flows, pay, shiny jets and who gets to play airline pilot with them. It's the wrong battle, completely. The real battle is doing everything in your power to end this entire way of existing as a B scale pilot. It's time to bring these airplanes and their flying home where it belongs. Do you have to consider flows, pay, and shiny jets in the present? I suppose so, but pick the right battle. |

So as a 6 year FO at Eagle now, I don't want to spend 4 or 5 more years at this place waiting to hopefully flow. I'd give 3.5 more years here tops, anything more and I'm looking at other options.
